About Marietta College

Marietta College is a co-educational private college in Marietta, which Ohio state's oldest city and the county seat of Washington County, with a population approximated at a number of over 14 500 inhabitants, at the time of the 2000 census, which made it the 2nd largest by population of three principal cities of, and included in, the Parkersburg-Marietta-Vienna, West Virginia-Ohio (part) Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The college was chartered in 1835 and was preceded by Muskingum Academy, established in 1797. It currently offers its students undergraduate programs, graduate studies, minor programs and special programs, `build on a strong liberal arts foundation, which is one of the core values of the College`, overall, offering 44 Undergraduate Majors and 3 Masters Programs.

Athletics

Marietta's athletic teams are nicknamed the Pioneers and they compete in NCAA Division III and the Ohio Athletic Conference. Their distinctive colors are navy blue and white.
